The length of the deal was confirmed by Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia.

Arrieta has been one of the top players on a chaotic Major League Baseball free agent market all offseason.

The 32-year-old right-hander made 30 starts with the Cubs last season finishing with a 3.53 ERA.

Arrieta is coming off four-plus strong seasons with the Cubs, which included a National League Cy Young Award in 2015. Acquiring Jake Arrieta would come at a (high) cost, with our estimation worth of 4 years, $112 million - but we will find out for sure once the Philadelphia Phillies confirm (or not) these reports.

As Ashley mentioned earlier, Arrieta was expected to sign with a team this week as free agent dominoes finally begin to fall.

The move comes with less than three weeks to go until Opening Day. Anthony DeSclafani has a strained left oblique, the third year in a row that the Reds starter has been hurt during spring training.
