Amazon promises to fix Alexa's creepy random laughter

Amazon acknowledges Alexa has developed a random, creepy laugh

Amazon's amzn acknowledgement of the issue comes after several people have reported on Twitter and Reddit that their Amazon Echo speakers have started laughing, for no apparent reason.

The way Amazon has approached the fix leads us to believe they think users are accidentally triggering the laugh command.

Amazon confirmed that the company is aware of the problem and is working to fix it.

@kylefitzy8 summed up many users' response, posting: "WHY DID MY ALEXA JUST LAUGH OUT OF THE BLUE?!?!?!?"

This new functionality is rolling out to Alexa now, and in order to use it, you'll need to be subscribed to Amazon Music in either the USA or UK. Amazon, if the machines have taken you hostage, send us a sign. Others have claimed Alexa has stopped responding to requests.

When Is Daylight Saving Time 2018? Changing Clocks To Spring Forward
Rummel on healthy sleep habits and why they are so important but for now start adjusting the time change now. About 70 countries around the world observe daylight saving, but many countries near the equator do not.

The CEO of cloud services provider Box, Aaron Levie, said, "Amazon Alexa is apparently creepily laughing at random times".

She informed that the company is also changing the response of the device to "Sure, I can laugh", followed by laughter from simply a laugh. So we got home last night and, totally unprompted, our Amazon Echo/Alexa started talking.

The truth is, randomly laughing at people is only one of the creepy probably-turning-sentient things Alexa has done.

Amazon said its planned fix will involve disabling the phrase, "Alexa, laugh", and changing the command to "Alexa, can you laugh?" Audio recordings collected by an Alexa device have already been used as evidence in a murder case.
