A quiet Saturday, snow on the way Sunday
These will bring a decent round of precipitation in the form of snow to the north and of heavy rain south and east. Again, residents are asked to use caution while driving to work or school.
After a bitter cold start to the day, temperatures will only reach the low to mid 30s Friday afternoon with increasing clouds and light winds shifting to the south. Temperatures will briefly climb into the low 40s Saturday. Total snow accumulations of 1-3 inches are expected. There will be another 40 percent chance of rain with snow after 10 p.m. Sunday night. In Wicomico and Somerset counties, rain showers are likely before 4 a.m. Thursday night into Friday, according to the National Weather Service, but snow will pick up then.
Conditions get a little more interesting Saturday night, the weather service said.
After an early morning snow shower, the rest of the day will be blustery and colder with highs in the 20s along with developing sunshine.
Tonight: Rain before 3am, then rain and snow between 3am and 4am, then snow after 4am. Southwest wind 6 to 9 miles per hour. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 30%. By Saturday afternoon, snow showers will be widespread across the region. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 46. Northwest wind 15 to 17 miles per hour. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 12. The mercury hovers there throughout the day on Friday with a brisk northwest wind providing wind chill values at, or below zero.
That chill sticks around into Saturday with sunny skies and highs in the 20s. North wind around 5 miles per hour. This snow is expected to be on the lighter side and will come to an end, giving a break before snow returns in the afternoon and evening. Wind southwest 20 km/h gusting to 40.
Sunday: Periods of snow, up to 2 inches possible. Low around 50. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent.
