Best of Van Dijk will come next season, says Klopp

Coutinho left the Reds in January for Barcelona after a prolonged transfer saga, in a record-breaking £108m million deal, which prompted the Merseysiders to sign defender Virgil van Dijk from Southampton for a reported £75m.

"I am very happy with him", Klopp told a media conference ahead of Sunday's clash with Tottenham.

"He's a big and tall player, it is not an issue".

And although he's convinced Van Dijk will come good in the long-run, Carragher wants him to shift a few pounds in the meantime.

"Daniel wanted to leave as well and with Roberto (Firmino), Dom (Solanke) and Danny Ings we have three players in that position plus maybe Mo Salah on a specific day can play as well so made sense as well".

Jürgen Klopp has acknowledged that Liverpool will not see the best of Virgil van Dijk until next season but hailed the qualities that the Dutchman brings to the squad despite not being at full fitness. Telling everyone we progress is one thing, but you need something to show for it. "It's more hard when you've lost two games but you need to be serious still".

Man dies after being sucked into MRI machine at Nair Hospital
When Solanki and the ward boys pulled him out of the machine, Maru's body was swollen and bleeding heavily. CCTV footage of the horrific event has been handed over to authorities as a part of their investigation.

The Reds boss insisted that everyone "will all see" Van Dijk "at his best after the summer" but insisted that they don't "have the time to wait until then" and that regardless the defender "can bring a lot of things in already".

"It's quite hard. Our defending is different to Southampton, for example, and Holland, if you want, so that's why it makes more sense that you get used to it".

And it is the back-line of the Merseyside outfit which is leading to doubts over Klopp's chances of finishing in the top four this season.

"Would we have preferred to keep Phil Coutinho?"

"We can take confidence from the United win and this is the performance we need to play against the big teams home and away". I know it's not the case for Virgil. But that's three or four years ago, he's a different player now'.
