EA Confirms Reports BioWare's Anthem Delayed To 2019

EA confirm Anthem delay to make room for a new Battlefield this October

Anthem Officially Pushed into 2019

In sales-related news, Electronic Arts said that Star Wars Battlefront II sold nine million units instead of the 10 million it had projected for the holiday quarter. EA's CFO Blake Jorgensen insisted that this is "not a delay", and that this is just the process of trying to create a story.

Previous rumors had pointed to the game being scheduled to release in March of 2019 to pad Electronic Arts' fiscal year, but EA was coy to confirm the news after some BioWare employees let the news slip to some gaming media (under anonymity of course). You can find the tweet from the Wall Street Journal below.

Despite the technicalities of a 2018 or 2019 launch, EA has now locked in an "early 2019" release for BioWare's newest IP. However, the big publisher denied that this delay was due to development issues.

It will have been two years since Battlefield 1 released when the untitled Battlefield game hits in 2018, giving plenty of the time for the series to breathe. By any standard, that is a delay, even if fall 2018 to early 2019 is not a significant one.

Saudi Arabia frees top broadcaster held in anti-graft drive
A senior Saudi official told Reuters the prince was freed after a financial settlement over "violations" to which he had admitted. Middle East Eye, quoting undisclosed sources reports that Prince Talal was released from Hotel Ritz-Carlton and arrived home.

As mentioned above, the next Battlefield game will launch in October.

It's the equivalent of a divorce lawyer showing up after you took that trip to Bangkok, Thailand and brought back a case of seafood you usually don't share with your wife.

This news comes on the tail end of a report by Kotaku's Jason Schreier, both BioWare's Edmonton and Austin dev teams have shifted to working on Anthem.
