Update: In a press conference late Wednesday night a spokesperson with the Adams County Sheriff's Office reported that a suspect wanted in the shooting of a Colorado sheriff's deputy was taken into custody after a search. The Colorado Police Foundation, per KMGH's report, identified the slain Adams County deputy as 32-year-old Heath Gumm.
The deputy was responding to a call of assault in progress and was shot once, officials said. Large perimeter with suspect still at large.
The deputy was taken to Denver Health, a Level 1 trauma center that is equipped to deal with serious injuries. Many could be seen embracing each other outside the hospital.
Gumm leaves behind a wife and family.
