Washington State University Mourns Suicide From Beloved Quarterback

Pullman police found WSU quarterback Tyler Hilinski dead of an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound to the head

Washington State Quarterback Tyler Hilinski was found dead Tuesday of an apparent suicide.

Hilinski's family issued a statement from California stating they were in 'complete shock and disarray'.

WSU coach Mike Leach: 'He was an incredible young man and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him was better for it'. "The entire WSU community mourns as thoughts and prayers go out to his family".

Hilinski was the presumptive starting quarterback going into next season.

Hilinski made his first start for Washington State last month at the Holiday Bowl against Michigan State.

The Pullman police announced that its detectives and the Whitman County Coroner's Office are conducting an investigation to confirm the suspected cause and manner of death. Bledsoe's son, John, was one of Hilinski's teammates.

In the second game of the season, he came in off the bench in the fourth quarter with the Cougars 21 points down and led the team to a 47-44 victory in triple overtime.

The S&P 500 posted 170 new 52-week highs and six new lows; the Nasdaq Composite recorded 243 new highs and 29 new lows. Ryanair managed to stay above the €16 mark, but slipped in the last hour of trading to close down slightly at €16.03.

"The tragic news today surrounding Tyler Hilinksi is devastating to all".

Hilinski was widely anticipated to be named starting quarterback at WSU this fall.

In the release, Johnson said the team was gathered and informed of the news, and counseling and mental health services have been provided to the players.

Former Washington State quarterback Ryan Leaf, who himself has battled demons in his life, encapsulated much of what many expressed on social media in a tweet late Tuesday: "I'm so f-ing angry, I can't stop crying".

The university will continue to coordinate and provide ongoing counseling care for all student-athletes as long as needed, the school said.
