Massive manhunt for gunman after Pierce County Sheriff’s deputy shot and killed
A deputy arrived six minutes later and gave chase as the burglars ran, sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer said.
The Pierce County Sheriff's Department said Monday that authorities are looking for a mixed race or white man who is tall and thin, with curly dark hair in a ponytail.
Someone called the Sheriff's Office just before 11:30 a.m. saying an intruder was inside a home in Frederickson, a suburb just southeast of Tacoma.
A 34-year-old Pierce County sheriff's deputy was killed while responding to a report of a home invasion near Frederickson late Sunday night, according to the sheriff's department. Dispatchers heard screaming and a scuffle during the initial 911 call.
The deputy suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma.
KIRO News is reporting that one suspect was shot and killed at the residence.
A suspect in the armed robbery was found dead at the scene.
