Manchester City are ready to make another move for Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez this month
City had been prioritising signing a centre-back during the January window but are now set to put a move for Real Sociedad's Inigo Martinez on the back burner.
A failed deal for Thomas Lemar killed the chances of Alexis moving in the summer, and with Liverpool the front-runners for the Monaco man now, Arsene Wenger has turned his attention to the Leicester City star.
Arsenal are believed to be demanding around £40m for Sanchez but City believe a deal can be struck for less.
City are also considering buying a centre-back in the transfer window, with West Bromwich Albion's Jonny Evans remaining a leading option, although ironically they could face competition from Arsenal for the Northern Ireland worldwide.
In fact, the future of Alexis Sanchez can certainly be deemed a saga of its own.
Sanchez has been a long-term target for City boss Pep Guardiola and the club saw several bids rejected for Sanchez in the summer transfer window.
Despite this, the north London giants are said to demand a minimum transfer fee of around £40m with Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool credited with an interest in the versatile attacker.
The Gunners forward has been linked with a potential January move over the past few months given his contract situation at Arsenal.
City had been willing to bide their time and snap up Alexis on a free transfer in the summer, but an injury of one month-plus to Gabriel Jesus has changed their thinking and it appears they are now trying to bring him in this month. According to the Evening Standard, that will happen soon with City preparing to bid for the Chile global and Arsenal setting a price tag.
