People allergic to eggs, safe to get flu vaccine

"There are hundreds of thousands of hospitalizations, and tens of thousands of deaths in the United States every year because of the flu, most of which could be prevented with a flu shot", said guideline co-author Dr. John Kelso. That's according to Calloway County Health Department public health director Amy Ferguson.

More than 400 flu related hospitalizations have been reported since the start of the season.

"We have to wait and see what happens from there", he said.

The guidelines come as flu season is starting to rev up.

The health district likely won't hear about someone missing work or school for a week because of the flu virus, Patterson said.

The dispute began when he called to say he wanted to come get the truck, and his father refused, according to court documents. Todd Palin was eventually able to escape the attack, suffering injuries to his face and head, police said.

"Widespread just means that we are seeing it in all pockets of the state", Ohio Department of Health spokeswoman Melanie Amato said, "from northeast to southwest".

According to numbers obtained through a Freedom of Information request filed by the New Democratic Party, hospitals at Hamilton Health Sciences have been running over capacity since October previous year. It's also higher than the five-year average of a bit less than 100 for the same period in past years. "The overwhelming evidence since 2011 has shown that a flu shot poses no greater risk to those with egg allergy than those without".

Unfortunately this year's vaccine is not very effective against one of the circulating strains, but experts say that if you get the flu after getting the shot, your illness will be less severe.

Dayton Children's admitted its first child with flu symptoms this season during the week of December 4 but OH hasn't seen any pediatric deaths so far. The CDC now recommends that almost all Americans older than six months get a flu shot, with an emphasis on young children, elderly adults and those with chronic illnesses.

"The best gift they can give their loved ones and friends is to not infect their friends with influenza or norovirus because they want to go to holiday parties a little bit too early", Patterson said.
