The domestic benchmark indices recovered from six-week lows as BSE Sensex gained as many as 352 points to 32,949.21 while Nifty50 ended the session at 10,166.70, up 123 points.

Weak Asian cues as technology stocks tracked a sell-off in their U.S. counterparts that saw the Nasdaq tumbling over 1 per cent overnight, weighed on the sentiments, brokers said.

Sensex zoomed 179 Points or 0.55% to 32,776.34 while the wider Nifty was up by over 55 points or 0.55% to 10,099.35. All the sectoral sub-indices finished firmly in the green with the Nifty Metal index, which has been on a sticky wicket off late, gaining nearly 2 per cent during the day.

Mumbai: Benchmark Nifty staged a smart recovery and climbed by 122.60 points on Thursday, driven by across- the-board value buying despite bearish Asian cues.

The 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex) on Wednesday opened on a negative note during the morning session of the trade.

However, Sun Pharma, Wipro, Cipla, TCS and Coal India finished with losses. Among the Asian bourses, Hong Kong's Hang Seng was down 1.12 per cent while Japan's Nikkei shed 0.90 per cent.

On the NSE, 1,273 shares advanced, 473 declined, while 60 remained unchanged.
