Amazon Prime Video App Now Available on Apple TV

Google Won't Allow Amazon Fire TV Devices To Access YouTube From January 1st
The search giant said it was responding to unfair treatment by Amazon, which won't sell Google devices through its online store and won't bring Amazon Prime Video support to Chromecast. Amazon had explained the move by saying it wanted to avoid confusing customers who might expect its Prime Video service to be available on devices sold by Amazon. In fact, it was at WWDC 2017 in June that the company first told users to expect Amazon Prime Video on Apple TV.
Yesterday the two companies announced that - finally - that very app had now gone live, with Vice President of Prime Video Mark Eamer saying in a statement: "There is nothing that excites us more than delighting our customers, and we are THRILLED for them to stream Prime Video on Apple TV".
Amazon Prime Video app has been released on Apple TV on Wednesday, Dec. 6. Prime Video integrates with Apple's TV app, which lists the shows you're now watching and alerts you when new episodes are available.
To watch online entertainment if you don't have a smart TV, you need a streaming box, such as Apple TV, FireTV, Roku or Google's Chromecast devices. In September, Google blocked YouTube support for the Echo Show and at the time said Amazon's implementation "violates our terms of service, creating a broken user experience".
You can get access to Prime Video if you're a paid Amazon Prime member, buy Prime Video on its own, are now in a 30-day free trial of either Amazon Prime or Prime Video, a Prime Student member or any member of an Amazon Household with shared Prime benefits.
If the new announcement has you thinking of signing up to Amazon Prime Video you can test it out with a free 30-day trial.
Amazon stopped selling Apple TV and Google Chromecast devices in 2015, a year after it launched Fire TV.
Now everyone can take a deep breath and relax: Amazon Prime Video is only a button click away on your Apple TV device. Where movies are not available for streaming via a Prime subscription, the app often says that the content can instead be purchased or rented. The paid subscription service is going to add new contents on a regular basis. Seeing it go will definitely be upsetting for most users, even more so when they realize that it's all because of petty competition between two billion-dollar companies. Sadly if they do not reach an agreement you will have to mirror your smartphone on to the Amazon streaming device to watch YouTube on the big screen.
