As Donald Trump delivered his presidential inaugural address last January, his national security adviser Michael Flynn told a former business associate in text messages that a private plan to build nuclear reactors in the Mideast was "good to go" and that United States sanctions hobbling the plan would soon be "ripped up", a whistleblower told congressional investigators.
The whistleblower alleged that the businessman boasted about the contents of the text from Flynn, calling it "the best day of my life", according to a detailed account of the alleged incident laid out in a letter from Rep. Elijah Cummings, the ranking Democrat on the House Oversight committee, to Chairman Trey Gowdy, a Republican, and shared with ABC News.
Flynn also informed the associate that his business partners could move forward with their project, which aimed to construct a network of nuclear reactors across the Mideast with support from Russian and other worldwide interests, the whistleblower said.
The whistleblower also said that within minutes of Trump's inauguration ceremony, Flynn communicated directly with business associates about plans to begin building nuclear reactors in the Middle East-a joint project with Russian Federation, according to the letter.
The whistle-blower contacted Cummings' office in June, and gave the congressman permission to share his account as part of the committee's investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election. According to a photo of the moment that the Democrats dug up, Flynn was standing only a few rows behind Trump and peering into his phone as the president spoke.
According to the whistleblower account, Copson said Flynn was making sure sanctions would be 'ripped up, ' which would allow money to start flowing to the project. On Inauguration Day, according to the whistle-blower, Mr. Flynn texted the former business associate to say that the project was "good to go".
The whistleblower also alleges that Copson said Flynn had assured him that USA sanctions on Russian Federation would be "ripped up" as soon as Trump was inside the White House.
"Mike has been putting everything in place for us", Copson told the whistleblower. Copson added that "this is going to make a lot of very wealthy people". "They have now informed us that they have done so".
Two days after the election, Obama warned Trump not to hire Flynn, CNN reported.
Cummings said he had found the unnamed informant to be "authentic, credible and reliable", and offered to produce the person for Gowdy.
Neither Gowdy nor Flynn's attorney, Robert Kelner, responded immediately to a request for comment. He also lied when he said he did not recall a follow-up conversation with the ambassador, who said that "Russia had chosen to moderate its response to those sanctions as a result of Flynn's request".
Cummings has argued that the Flynn plea deal should alleviate that concern. Cummings said his office could not verify the whistleblower's story, and whether Copson was telling the whistleblower the truth, without subpoenaed documents.

NASA launched the Voyager 1 space probe in 1977, and it remains the craft that's traveled furthest from Earth in human history. The small adjustments are needed to turn Voyager's antenna toward Earth, allowing it to continue sending communications.
