Amazon Fire TV and Echo Show are losing YouTube as Google feud escalates
For its part, Amazon, through a spokeswoman, said that Alphabet'sGoogle unit is "setting a disappointing precedent by selectively blocking customer access to an open website".
Both companies should reach at an agreement and resolve these issues to avoid inconvenience to consumers. Hopefully the two companies can work out a deal soon and YouTube can return to Amazon's devices. In 2016, YouTube's viewership on TV screens grew 90% compared to 2015, according to the Google-owned company.
Google blocked YouTube access via the Echo Show, Amazon's smart speaker with a touchscreen, on Tuesday and will stop supporting YouTube on Amazon's Fire TV set-top box on January 1. When Google first pulled YouTube from the Echo Show, Amazon got some measure of revenge by no longer selling the Nest E Thermostat, Nest's Camera IQ, and the Nest Secure alarm system.
Both Google and Amazon compete with each other in many areas including cloud computing and selling voice-controlled smart speakers like the Google Home and Amazon Echo Show.
As for streaming TV alternatives, just about any other device will play YouTube. Now Google has pulled YouTube again from the device as the voice control commands added violated the use terms.
You'll still have ways to watch YouTube service if it disappears from Amazon's Fire TV streaming device. In a statement, it cited the fact that Amazon does not sell Google hardware on its various platforms.
Google's own Home smart speaker is a direct rival to Amazon's Echo line of products.
Amazon's relationship with Google may have soured, but the ecommerce giant seems to have found a new friend in Apple Inc.
"We don't think Google will go out of its way to patch things up with Amazon as having YouTube absent from Amazon devices could disincentivise users from going with Echo products giving Google Home a badly needed boost", he said.
When two heavyweights from different subsectors of the tech world start directly competing there will be arguments and temper tantrums, but Google and Amazon have escalated the feud.

Facebook debuts new Messenger app for kids 6 and up
While the app operates as its own version of Messenger, kid's accounts are actually nested under their parent's accounts. Amazon has also added kid-focused "skills" to its Echo smart speakers, which require a parent's permission to activate.
