Democratic Rep. John Conyers of Michigan stepped down as ranking member of Judiciary Committee amid sexual harassment investigation

MI state Sen. Ian Conyers, a grandson of John Conyers' brother, also says he plans to run.

Until Tuesday, Conyers held the distinction as the longest serving current member of the U.S. House of Representatives.

According to Grubbs' statement, Conyers called her and Brown the "Big Leg Cousins", and once came out of the bathroom of his home completely naked in front of Grubbs.

The sexual harassment allegations against Conyers surfaced November 20 after BuzzFeed News reported he settled a wrongful dismissal complaint with an employee in 2015 for $27,000 in exchange for a confidentiality agreement and that he made advances toward female staffers, including requests for sexual favors, caressing their hands in a "sexually suggestive" way, and rubbing their legs and backs in an inappropriate manner while in the office or in public.

The House Ethics Committee is reviewing allegations of harassment against John Conyers.

"I'm now in Israel on a fact finding mission with African American leaders from the Midwest", Ian Conyers tweeted just minutes after his grand-uncle's radio interview ended.

Elisa Grubbs made the allegation in an affidavit released late Monday by her attorney, Lisa Bloom.

Conyers is expected to make the announcement on a local radio show, the New York Times reported citing a relative.

'Why mention real names if Padmavati is fictional?' CBFC to Bhansali
Sources of parliamentary said they have reached out to Bhansali but he appeared to be shying away from appearing before the panel. It's learnt that the panel chose to give the director "at least two weeks" before deciding on whether to call him again.

Conyers' attorney Arnold Reed tweeted Monday that he and the congressman will appear on the 102.7 FM Mildred Gaddis radio show on Tuesday at 10:15 a.m.to announce the Detroit Democrat's decision on whether he plans to stay in Congress.

"I think there should be a complete disclosure and revealing to all the citizens in the country what federal legislatures are doing or not doing - and any cost that may have incurred as a result of that", Conyers said.

Conyers is one of four sitting USA lawmakers hit by allegations of sexual misconduct in the wake of the claims targeting movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, which triggered a torrent of accusations against powerful figures in the worlds of entertainment, media and politics.

They said the congressman is entitled to due process. Such behavior "was a regular part of life while working in the office of Rep. Conyers", she said. In the political world, it's never that simple.

A number of fellow Democrats have called on Conyers to resign, including Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and fellow Michigan Rep. Dan Kildee.

The elder Conyers, however, continued to deny the allegations leveled against him.

The 88-year-old liberal from Detroit becomes the highest-ranking figure in Washington to be brought down by the sexual misconduct allegations that have toppled powerful men in Hollywood, the media and politics in recent weeks.

Conyers was first elected to the House in 1964.
