Amazon Australia launched this morning

Amazon's Australian arm has finally launched on Tuesday – offering customers the chance to snap up deals just in time for Christmas
Well, after a few false starts it's actually happened: Amazon has launched in Australia, with an actual homepage you can go to and literally existing products you can purchase with money and have delivered to your home. The much-vaunted Prime service - which bundles offerings like priority shipping, streaming and Kindle content in one package - is not now available, with expectations it'll come in mid-2018. Amazon has said that "customers can enjoy free delivery on eligible orders above $49 that are sold by Amazon". Still, it's a huge blow to our $16 billion retail sector.
"My main take away [from meeting U.S. retailers] was that Amazon's key advantage is that its strategy is driven by data, not gut feel, and the key source of this data is the Marketplace".
"For Amazon's Marketplace to be successful in Australia, Amazon will need a good product range, including local specialty suppliers. I think this may prove hard".
Amazon Fresh - the supermarket arm of the multinational - also isn't launching here just yet, which is good news for the Woolies at Marrickville Metro, who just spent a bundle on renovations.
"It is likely that small independent retailers and discount department stores will find it very hard to compete". A Lenoxx 9-inch Twin Screen Portable DVD player, which retails for $149 on Kogan.com, is $172.38 plus $9.45 delivery on Amazon.
Deals available on the website include a 32 Samsung Smart TV for $608.20
Amazon will also feature big brands such as Puma, Lego, L'Oreal and Sonos.
Over time, we will create thousands of new jobs and invest hundreds of millions of dollars in Australia.
Fowler adds: "Its more than online shopping, Amazon will force us to re-think content, media spend, digital and programmatic, customer service, and even our relationships with Australian retailers". The result will be an ever-improving customer experience driven by the regular introduction of new products and services that we hope customers will love.
The company has now set up a massive distribution warehouse on the outskirts of Melbourne city, on the country's east coast where four-fifths of the population live, and the company hopes to cut delivery time to as little as a day. Small businesses selling on Amazon Marketplace globally have employed more than 600,000 people to support their Amazon activity.
Police make arrest in Missing child case The FBI, which was also at the news conference, said that two areas in Pender County were now part of the focus of the search. Federal Bureau of Investigation officials said in a release Saturday that they have evidence to believe Mariah is deceased.
NASA fires up Voyager 1 backup thrusters after 37 years
NASA launched the Voyager 1 space probe in 1977, and it remains the craft that's traveled furthest from Earth in human history. The small adjustments are needed to turn Voyager's antenna toward Earth, allowing it to continue sending communications.
Microsoft's Edge browser is now available for Android and iOS
It's a browser for dedicated Edge users on desktop to carry their browsing experience with them when they shift to their phones. The only thing that's missing from the Edge mobile browser is the ability to sync tabs, as pointed out by The Verge .
Everton Set to Appoint Sam Allardyce
His first game will be at home to Huddersfield on Saturday, and he will no doubt want to cap his first game off with a victory. So with that in mind it's no wonder Everton are throwing a lot of money at a manager who's never been relegated.
'Stranger Things' Season 3 Will Jump Ahead In Time Again
It's no shock that Netflix will be returning to Hawkins, Indiana, the site of one of the online network's biggest show . The Duffer brothers had already discussed their plans for a further two series ahead of the release of season two.
