Suspected Israeli Missiles Target Syrian Base
Syrian state television has confirmed that Israeli warplanes struck a military base near the Syrian capital of Damascus overnight Friday.
The Britain-based group, which monitors the war through a network of contacts in Syria, said the attack hit near al-Kiswa town south of the capital Damascus, causing loud explosions. Iran has not commented on the incident. The report added that "our defense forces destroyed two enemy targets".
According to Syria's state-run SANA news agency, pro-government forces managed to destroy two of the missiles in a response attack. The Israeli planes were said to have come from the direction of Lebanon.
However, other sources allege that strikes were aimed at an Iranian military said to be located near Kiswah.
