Sensex, Nifty finish on positive mood ahead of S&P ratings

Extending its rally, the 30-share index advanced 101.78 points, or 0.30 per cent, to 33,689.86.

The benchmark 10-year bond fell, with yield rising as high as 7.04 percent. United States markets closed on a soft note after Federal Reserve released the minutes of its previous meeting which showed that the policy makers are largely positive about the economy but worry that market prices are getting out of hand.

The NSE Nifty opened higher at 10,366.80 and moved in a range of 10,404.50 and 10,362.25 before ending higher by 40.95 points, or 0.40 per cent, at 10,389.70 - its highest closing level since November 6. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 14.45 points or 0.14% at 10,356.75 with 33 components gaining. In Friday's trade, all sectoral indices, apart from those of banks and metals, finished with gains.
