Jude Law Heads For Captain Marvel

Jude Law to Star Opposite Brie Larson in Captain Marvel

The movie will introduce MCU followers to Larson's Carol Danvers, an Air Force pilot whose DNA is fused with an alien's DNA after an accident giving her the powers of flight, strength and energy projection.

Half Nelson and Mississippi Grind helmers Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck are on board to direct Marvel's next big character introduction after Black Panther, with Marvel chief Kevin Feige producing. The British star just recently joined the Harry Potter franchise, signing in on Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald as the film's young Albus Dumbledore.

The actor is in talks to play the male lead opposite Brie Larson in Marvel's first superheroine-focused movie, "Captain Marvel", according to Variety. The significance of the film can not be understated as it is the first female solo-outing for a Marvel superhero after a slew of male-centric features.

We now know, thanks to an update from Variety, that Law would be playing Dr. Walter Lawson, the human guise of Mar-Vell, the Kree hero who was the original Captain Marvel.

George Clooney to return to TV with 'Catch-22'
Catch-22 follows US Air Force Captain John Yossarian as he gets caught up in a bureaucratic paradox in Italy in the midst of WWII. The US actor will direct and star in a six-episode series adaptation of US author Joseph Heller's satirical 1961 novel Catch-22.

Mar-Vell was a spy sent by the Kree to keep an eye on Earth, who found himself playing the role of a superhero known as Captain Marvel. It's also thought Samuel L. Jackson may show up as a younger Nick Fury.

Beyond this tidbits, details on Captain Marvel are still sketchy.

It'll release shortly after Captain Marvel in 2019, though there have been rumblings that a select number of costumed crusaders will cross over into the Larson-fronted spinoff.
