Pixel 2 XL: New problem prevents Google phone screen from registering touches

14 November 2017, 01:22 | Denise Dawson

You can add unresponsive screen edges to the list of Pixel 2 XL issues

Some Pixel 2 XL touchscreens are unresponsive near the edges, but a fix is coming

As a part of master promotion plan, Indian users will also get free wireless earphones from Sennheiser worth Rs. 11,990 free with each Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL order.

About a week ago, a post in the Pixel User Community forum kicked off a discussion about the apparent lack of responsiveness along the curved edges of the Pixel 2 XL screen. With issues related to displaying screen floating over the internet, users have complained about the boring colors and screen burn-in on the Pixel 2 XL's OLED display.

"It seems like the touch screen is less responsive near the right edge of the screen".

Apart from this, one of the Pixel 2 XL users uploaded a video on Youtube, showing the unresponsive touch at the corners of the device by using a display tester app. This occurs on the sides of the display at the very edges. However, tapping on the edges is not always detected by the handset. Android Police stated that the real culprit is the device's accidental touch protection feature, which can sometimes be over the top.

CWI strikes five-year tour agreement with Pakistan
However, Sethi remarked that it seems impossible now pertaining to the weather conditions of Lahore. In return, Pakistan and West Indies will play a series in U.S. in 2018 which will be a tri-series.

The unresponsive touchscreen edges issue is different from previous Pixel 2 XL display problems though. This issue can be solved through a software patch. Nevertheless, it is comforting to know that Google will fix the problem in the future.

Google seems to be aware of the issue and a Community Manager on the forum has replied to the original post saying, "The team has been investigating, and this will be addressed in a future OTA update".

We reached out to Google, and a spokesperson acknowledged the issue and confirmed its fix. There were also some users who experienced possible screen burn-ins, which Google has also fixed through a recent software update.
