Iran urges France to be realistic, not to act under influences

Arab League to meet on Iran at Saudi request: Diplomats

They want sanctions reinstated and for Iran to be punished for its illegal ballistic missile program.

"France' officials including its president are well aware that levelling false accusations against the Islamic Republic of Iran stands in stark contradiction to the realities of the Middle East over the past decades", Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said on Saturday. "There is no direct link between nuclear and ballistic programs of Iran in the text [of the agreement]", Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said in October.

Macron, during a visit to Dubai on Thursday, said he was "very concerned" by Tehran's missile programme after Saudi Arabia claimed it intercepted a missile fired from Yemen last month.

"We have told French officials repeatedly that the nuclear deal is not negotiable and other issues will not be allowed to be added to it", Qassemi said, according to a statement on the ministry's website.

The United States accused Iran on Tuesday of supplying Yemen's Houthis with a missile that was sacked into Saudi Arabia, which has been leading a coalition that has been pounding the Houthi positions in Yemen for more than two and a half years in a campaign to restore the fugitive president Abd-Rabbu Mansur Hadi.

Saudi Arabia and its allies accuse Iran of supplying missiles and other weapons to the Houthis, saying the arms were not present in Yemen before the conflict broke out in 2015.

"Undoubtedly, this silence is interpreted as a green light by Saudi rulers to continue committing such anti-human crimes", underlined the Iranian diplomat.

The United States Congress now has 60 days to reimpose nuclear sanctions.

Trump announced last month that he will no longer certify Iran's compliance, despite the United Nations nuclear agency's reports verifying Iran's full commitment.

Although Iran's ballistic program is not included under the terms of the nuclear agreement, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), US President Donald Trump has maintained his tough stance on Iran, refusing to re-certify Iran's compliance in October.
