Roy Moore's brother compares sexual conduct allegations to the persecution of Jesus: report
A report in in The Washington Post this week said Moore, 70, engaged in sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl more than three decades ago when he was an attorney in a small Alabama town.
"There's a very odd propensity of sexual allegations to suddenly become politically useful in the run-up to an election, or when someone stands up for the principles of the republic, like Clarence Thomas, and needs to be taken down", said Sebastian Gorka, a former White House adviser who became a Fox News contributor this week.
"I just want to get a clear answer here, so you're saying 'yes, ' you would think that is disqualifying?" Connors wasn't buying it, as he said the timing didn't "pass the smell test". Luther Strange (R-AL) in the primary-runoff in September to replace former Sen. "Moore is unfit for office and should step aside".
Alabama's recent Republican Governor Robert Bentley saw a huge drop in support after it came out that he had used his office to cover up a sex scandal, which, FiveThirtyEight suggests, means "there are instances when moral outrage outweighs partisan interest".
"When I asked what does he believe the motivation is with these women coming forward, making the accusations they have, again, Jerry Moore says it's money and the Democratic Party, implying that they are doing this because they're being paid in some way, and it is for the goal of derailing or interrupting this campaign", Savidge said.
"He seems like a good guy to me", said Pat Hurst, a resident of the town just off Interstate 20 some 75 miles east of Birmingham.
Waid Harbison, Cullman County Republican Chairman, said he needed more specifics before jumping off the Moore bandwagon.

It's the distance that would matter to the state Republican party, and more so for the national party. I believe this is Doug Jones, some of his doings, you know.
Earlier this week, he reportedly said "transgenders don't have rights". "Even those who followed ancient marriage customs, which we would not follow today, knew the difference between molesting and marriage".
Ziegler contends that the allegations against Moore are unlikely to impact his political run as he never had "sexual intercourse" with the 14-year-old girl in question, their relationship "happened nearly 40 years ago", and finally, "Moore fell in love with one of the younger women", namely his wife Kayla. John McCain said the allegations are bad enough, and Moore should step down anyway.
On several occasions, Moore has made controversial statements and taken positions that have cost him his job. It was 1979, and he was a 32-year-old assistant district attorney. The age of consent in Alabama, where these events are said to have happened, is 16.
In Washington at least, few Republicans came to Moore's defense in the hours after the report was published.
The accusations were made in a report in The Washington Post on Thursday. The numbers suggest odd wouldn't split the GOP vote as much as you might expect; some unusual voters appear to be taken away from Jones.
"You understand this is 40 years ago and after the military, and I dated a number of young ladies", Moore said of the possibility of going on dates with other young women.

Several senior Republicans called on Moore to quit the race after The Washington Post reported allegations of sexual misconduct. Moore has strongly denied the accusations, attributing them to the Democrats and The Washington Post , which broke the story .
