Germans post tweet of 35000 characters

Twitter officially doubles the character limit to 280 for all users

Twitter DOUBLES the length of tweets to 280 characters so you don't have to cram everything in 140 characters

Twitter claims that the changes are a good thing (because of course they're a good thing), because "only" 5% of tweets with the 280 character limit exceeded 140 characters and only 2% were over 190 characters.

Users tweeting in Chinese, Japanese and Korean will still have the original limit.

The social media company says this is because they see a small percentage of tweets posted using the full 140 characters in certain languages. They thought tweets should be about as simple as a text message, but other than that, there was no magical reason they there was a 140 character limit.

"As a result, your timeline reading experience should not substantially change, you'll still see about the same amount of Tweets in your timeline". More interaction and more engagement means more users and more advertising revenue. It began testing an expanded 280 character limit in September, and now that feature is rolling out to everyone.

"We believe people spent less time editing their Tweets in the composer", said Rozen.

AJ Green and Jalen Ramsey ejected following fight
Green and Jalen Ramsey ended early Sunday when Cincinnati star receiver and Jacksonville's No. 1 corner were ejected for fighting. He needed one touchdown to become the first player in National Football League history to score in his first seven games.

Twitter even tweeted the announcement, and did it in under 140 characters. More importantly, the company argues, loosening the constraint will allow more users "to fit thoughts in a Tweet, so they could say what they want to say, and send Tweets faster than before". Rozen said users with the longer character count earned more likes, retweets, and mentions, along with more followers.

'Additionally, many people tweet in multiple languages, sometimes within a single tweet'. The experiment must have been a success, as the company has now made the change official in nearly all languages.

"Brevity is what shaped Twitter's content style, and while the extra characters may change some aspects", he said, "it will make the service a bit easier to read and engage with".

We expect to see some of this novelty effect spike again with this week's launch and expect it to resume to normal behavior soon after.
"Our goal was to make this possible while ensuring we keep the speed and brevity that makes Twitter, Twitter", the company wrote.
