Reports: Iowa's Clovis urged Trump foreign policy adviser to meet with Russians

RussiaGate is Complex Here Are 10 Links to Better Understand

Clovis, in a statement, told Bloomberg that Papadopoulos was acting on his own and that the campaign had a strict rule against traveling overseas and claiming to speak on behalf of the campaign.

Court papers unsealed Monday also revealed an indictment against Trump's former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort. "NONE!" the verified account for George Papadopoulos, financial planner and CPA, tweeted. The email said Russian Federation was eager to meet with the candidate and have been reaching out.

"He didn't say yes and he didn't say no", the official said, declining to be more specific about Trump's response to Papadopoulos.

"Yes or no, were you on email chains with Papadopoulos?"

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders termed Papadopoulos' role with the campaign as "extremely limited".

On March 31, 2016, Trump tweeted a photo of his meeting with the advisory board, with Papadopoulos among a handful of advisers at the president's table.

Page, who told the Senate intelligence committee in May he had "brief interactions" with low-level Russian officials in 2013, traveled to Moscow in July 2016, shortly after Papadopoulos forwarded a request from Russian officials to meet with Trump or someone in the Trump campaign. One suspects, from his delivery, that if Jason Voorhees had been listed, Trump would have read his name and said: "Hockey player".

He went on to state: 'That said, I take reports of such behavior seriously and this is no exception. On Monday, the companies announced that the next season of " House of Cards " would be its last.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov says he sees nothing wrong a former campaign adviser to President Donald Trump reaching out to a Kremlin-linked think tank.

Papadopoulos, 30, was arrested in July and accused of lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation about his conversations with a foreign professor who informed him that the Russians had thousands of emails containing information that could be used against Hillary ClintonHillary Diane Rodham ClintonBlumenthal: Trump-tied data firm reaching out to WikiLeaks "significant" Tillerson eliminates key State Department sanctions office: report Intel Dem: What's in dossier more important than who paid for it MORE.

In May, Papadopoulos had sent an email to a "high-ranking campaign official" with the subject line "Request from Russian Federation to meet Mr. Trump". Sessions, however, did attend, and he and Papadopoulos sat next to each other, according to the source who was in the room. A former Morningside College economics professor, he took an extended leave of absence from the Sioux City school when he joined the Trump campaign as national co-chairman and chief policy adviser in August 2015.

It's unclear how frequently Papadopoulos was in contact with the campaign officials.

In a footnote, the statement notes that the email was forwarded between campaign officials and who wrote they should discuss: "We need someone to communicate that DT is not doing these trips".

If Team Trump can't convince the public that Papadopoulos was a nobody, they'd at least like people to believe that his repeated efforts to set up a meeting between the campaign and the Russian government were rebuffed by more senior Trump officials.
