Trump Moves to Gut Obamacare Benefits Requirements

S&P: ObamaCare enrollment hurt by Trump uncertainty

The ACA enrollment period began Wednesday and will continue until December 15.

The enrollment period for the Affordable Care Act began on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2017 but there are changes this year that buyers should be aware of.

Even former President Barack Obama took to Twitter Wednesday to deliver a short video reminding people that it's time to pick coverage for next year.

In August, the Trump administration announced it was slashing the budget to advertise for signing up for health care through the ACA, or Obamacare, from $100 million to $10 million. Premiums are going up in 2018 but so are available tax credits. Most Americans are still required to get health insurance, and they can find plans - including some generous subsidies - through state-based marketplaces or exchanges, including

The amount of financial help you get is tied to your income and the cost of the silver plans, which offer middle-of-the-road prices and benefits.

President Donald Trump announced in mid-October that his administration would end key payments to insurers who sell plans on the exchange, but the state Insurance Department planned for that occurrence when setting rates for 2018 plans, protecting Anthem and ConnectiCare from potential losses related to the termination of those payments.

Nearly every state will feel the spikes at a time when enticing consumers to sign up for coverage has never been harder.

Jahlil Okafor Says He Wants 76ers Contract Buyout or Trade
I'm just anxious about my career. "I'm unsure if I'm still on the team", he told Jordan Brenner of SB Nation earlier in October. So the fact that I know that at the end of the season I would at least have an opportunity to play elsewhere, that's great.

"Access Health is still here to help you enroll and answer your questions", he said.

For 2018, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of DE will offer seven plans for individuals - one gold plan, three silver, two bronze and one catastrophic. As in years past, consumers who don't select a plan during the sign-up period may be automatically reenrolled in their current plan-or a different plan, if their current plan is no longer available.

Many people already faced fewer choices and higher premiums.

The cheapest gold plan will have lower premiums than the least-expensive silver plan in 459 counties next year once subsidies are factored in, Kaiser found. "There's been so much confusion about whether it's still the law and whether it's great coverage", Jennifer Simmons, of health care advocacy group NC Navigator Consortium, told ABC11.

Many consumers will be able to find plans for as little as $20, $10, or even $0.

Carlyn Cowen, chief policy and public affairs officer for the Chinese American Planning Council, said information sessions are crucial because many of their members are afraid to sign up for ACA insurance due to their distrust of the government over immigration issues.
