Congress promises 1.5 lakh jobs, 50000 laptops for meritorious kids
"They have the gall to claim there will be zero tolerance of corruption", Modi told an election rally in this town ahead of Himachal's November 8 Assembly polls.
In Himachal Pradesh, Congress won 36 of the 68 seats in 2012 with a vote share of 42.81 per cent, while the BJP bagged 26 seats with a 38.47 per cent vote share.
In his interview Surjewala said that the "jumla babu" (Prime minister Modi) is here again with false promises.
"Everyday a soldier from Himachal lays down life in the service of nation in Kashmir... and a Congress leader endorses greater autonomy for Jammu and Kashmir", Modi said in a veiled attack on former finance minister P Chidambram.
"Instead, he meets China's envoy and asks about Doklam", the Prime Minister said, a reference to Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi's meeting with Chinese ambassador Luo Zhaohui in July this year, which put his party in a spot; it first denied the meeting took place and then had to confirm it amid taunts from the BJP.
Calling Himachal a land of "martyrs and soldiers", the Prime Minister said the Congress government had patronised "mafias in the Devbhoomi". "It is time to save Himachal Pradesh from those who looted it...from the monsters", he added.
People across the country were engaged in Swachhta Abhiyan and were "wiping out" the old party whenever they got the opportunity through elections, Modi said. His countering speech for the upcoming election has defined the Congress leaders indirectly as evil.
The Congress, he added, must introspect on why people were punishing it and turning away from its leaders. "You have been giving the mandate to the BJP and Congress alternatively, that's why the progress and development could not be consistent", he said.
He also defended his government's demonetisation decision, saying it aimed at ending corruption.
The NDA government, he said, was combating corruption through technology and the direct transfer of subsidies to beneficiaries had not only saved Rs 57,000 crore but also ended corruption. "And what is the stand of the Congress on raising freedom slogans".
Regarding the launch of the "Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik" (UDAN) scheme between Shimla and Delhi, Surjewala said the central government's scheme has failed completely.
He also alleged that the UPA government had misled jawans on the issue of "one rank, one pension"(OROP) and said his government had not only fulfilled its promise but already paid three installment of arrears.
