The boy, who has not been named, jumped off of Cedar Lane overpass in Virginia and landed on Marisa W. Harris' 2005 Ford Escape, according to a press release provided to PEOPLE by the Virginia State Police Department.
The Daily Mail quoted the police saying that the boy landed on a Ford Escape and the impact incapacitated the vehicle's driver, Marisa Harris, 22, who died on the spot.
Officials said Harris' boyfriend, who was in the passenger seat, was able to take control of the wheel and steer it off the interstate.

She wanted to devote her career to helping children, family members said. "She was loved by her friends, she was dearly loved by her family, she was admired by her peers, and she was just a shining star".
But as for why she died, Bruce said his emotions are a mix of fury and confusion. "I miss her so much".
