Democratic Challengers to House GOP Incumbents Raising Some Serious Dough

Threatening the GOP's top priority of passing major tax reform, Republican Rep. Tom MacArthur warned Tuesday night that so many House Republicans are frustrated with plans to nix a popular deduction, they could block the budget this week. But most of the hard-liners appear to be willing to play along.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) told CNN he is "waiting is to hear from President Trump what kind of health care bill he might sign". He delivered an even blunter message on Tuesday, when he took fresh aim at Sen.

The Republican tax reform framework proposes eliminating the State and Local Tax deduction (SALT), a popular tax break that affects almost one-third of filers, letting them deduct levies like state income taxes and property taxes. So we're seeing a lot of ideas for changes to the tax code that would bring in revenue to offset tax cuts. "Now we move forward!"

Speaker of the House Paul Ryan said at his weekly Tuesday morning press conference that the House will vote on the Senate's budget Thursday and will likely roll out a tax reform bill next week.

It does not include House language that would have mandated a tax bill that did not add much to the debt and allowed at least $200 billion in cuts to mandatory programs to pass on the same basis. As for the leadership's posture on the issue as these lawmakers demand changes, he said, "they are holding firm on not budging".

Budget hawks, meanwhile, have been mostly mum.

Zeldin also supported the earlier version of the House budget resolution, which narrowly passed. A few dozen House Republicans in high-tax states are exerting pressure on House GOP leaders not to repeal the deduction, as their party's framework released in September seeks to do.

Boy Becomes Eighth Child Killed By Ikea Dresser
If a consumer is unable to bring the product back to the store, Ikea will arrange to pick it up at their home". After these incidents, IKEA announced a fix program that offered a free wall-mounting kit for its customers.

"I think we're going to get our taxes", the president said in an interview with Fox News. He said Republicans plan to meet again on Wednesday to continue the conversation, and that he's now not ready to vote for the budget resolution Thursday - a key precursor to consideration of tax legislation.

Any move to compromise with the group of lawmakers would mean GOP leaders would complicate the already tough hurdle of figuring out how to pay for the overall tax reform proposal.

"I do expect to reach an agreement with our high-tax (state) lawmakers", Brady said. Self-styled fiscal sentinels such as the Freedom Caucus and the Republican Study Committee have largely held their fire on deficit-related criticism.

With just days before the House votes on a budget, MacArthur said he's disappointed by what he described as a lack of progress in the negotiations. But neither pledge comes with a clear path to becoming law. What is happening is Ways and Means is preparing to unveil the bill and when they do we'll start the process.

"You're asking for them to pay for their own raises".

They include Rep. Steve Womack, R-Ark., who represents a solidly Republican northwest Arkansas district and is now a senior member of the Budget Committee.
