TESLATesla Model X recall sees 11,000 cars affected with seat issue

Tesla Model X recall 2017 seat issue

Tesla Inc. (TSLA) is voluntarily recalling 11,000 Model X SUVs due to problems with the rear seats in the vehicles.

The issue was traced to a latch that could cause the seat on the left side of the second row to fall forward in the event of an crash.

While the company is quick to confirm no incidents related to this fault have been reported, Tesla says a "small number" of Model X vehicles may need cables for the second row "fold-flat" seats adjusted. Tesla said that both its service centers and its mobile fix service can perform the adjustment. Tesla believes only about 3 percent of the recalled vehicles have the issue. The voluntary recall involves Model X SUVs manufactured between October 28, 2016 and August 16, 2017. Owners can stake their cars to a Tesla Service Center if they prefer. Tesla hasn't received any reports of this happening to Model X owners, but is issuing the recall based on its research.

Tropical Storm Ophelia Strengthening On Southeastern Trek
If Ophelia is able to reach hurricane status it will be the 10th consecutive named storm to become a hurricane. It now has maximum sustained winds of 50mph, but will reach at least 74mph as it approaches western Europe.

Tesla had a great appreciation for Model X design. In the spring of a year ago it recalled 2,700 Model X SUVS because of locking hinge in the third-row seats that didn't work.

It said cables in the seat may not have been tightened properly, preventing the left seat from locking in an upright position. Model X has received the highest rating in every category and subcategory in independent safety tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and we continue to conduct our own internal testing to ensure that Model X remains the safest SUV in the world.

The voluntary recall comes at a time when investors and Wall Street seem divided about the prospects for the green automaker.
