Honeypreet Insan surrenders, Hayana Police get custody
After the conviction and sentencing of self-styled godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, his closest aide and adopted daughter Honeypreet Insan went into hiding as the police forces launched a massive lookout for her. The police will interrogate Honeypreet regarding the violence that erupted in Panchkula on August 25 that claimed the lives of 36 persons.
Honeypreet also said that she had never left the country after the Dera chief's conviction, trashing reports suggesting she may have gone to Nepal, but said that she visited Delhi.
"Every daughter supports her father.I went with him".
An arrest warrant was issued against Honeypreet and two key Dera functionaries - Aditya and Pawan Insan, after the Haryana Police moved an application in Panchkula court. "My movement was being monitored, how could I have instigated riots?", she had said. "All those who are spreading such rumours, please do not believe them".
In the interview she alleged that a pure relationship between her father, Ram Rahim, and her had been tarnished intentionally.
"She is being brought to Panchkula for questioning in connection with the incidents of violence".
In the exclusive interview, Honeypreet claimed she had no role to play in the violence that broke in different parts of Haryana and Punjab after her "papaji" was convicted for raping two women followers in 2002, and said that she is innocent. Serious charges of sedition, waging war and inciting people for violence have been slammed on Honeypreet. Honeypreet, who often refers to herself as "Papa's angel", had her transit anticipatory bail plea rejected the Delhi High Court last month.
"Honeypreet was traveling in an Innova SUV and was accompanied by another woman", the police commissioner said.
She asked if a daughter has no right to express her love for her father.
