Last-minute guide to betting on the NRL Grand Final

Storm's Slater wins Clive Churchill Medal

THERE'S just one more sleep until the NRL Grand Final and Warwick has well and truly thrown its support behind the fairytale run of the North Queensland Cowboys.

An enormous day of rugby league action to wrap up the 2017 NRL Telstra Premiership will begin at 10am on Nine when Sports Sunday, hosted by Emma Freedman, welcomes two Grand Final heroes in former Storm captain Glenn Lazarus and Cowboys legend Brent Tate to the studio for a special NRL Grand Final preview show.

Yet they face a ferocious challenge from North Queensland Cowboys, the plucky underdogs that continue to astound pundits and fans alike with their fairy-tale run of results.

They have instead been forced to move their final training session to Sydney's Jubilee Park in Kogorah.

The Melbourne Storm destroyed Brisbane in a totally one-sided contest on Saturday to progress to a second consecutive NRL Grand Final. If you sit back and give the Storm time to develop their game, you have no hope of beating them.

If you are going to overcome this mob, you'll have to do it the hard way, because North Queensland don't do freebies.

After a frustrating loss to the Cronulla Sharks a year ago, the Melbourne Storm have fought their way back for another shot at the NRL Grand Final.

After a stalemate that stretched almost 20 minutes, the Storm took control of the first half, with Josh Addo-Carr's stunning opener setting the tone for the evening. Even more impressive, they were missing star players Johnathan Thurston and Matt Scott for the playoffs as they watched from the coaches' box.

For when will another NRL side be graced with a Three as Big as this?

That's thanks in large to his powerful 92kg frame, which means Morgan is just as capable of powering through the defensive line as he is of throwing a pinpoint flat ball to send a teammate through a gap. The Storm have already won three premierships since 2009 (although two of those were stripped for rorting the salary cap - another reason to cheer for the Cowboys) and the fact that scenes at Townsville Airport will be epic should the team return home with the trophy.

"I thought our defence pretty much was great for the whole game but a lot more clinical tonight than we have been the other two finals", he said.

But Melbourne are better.

"I didn't really know (whether I'd be back here)", Slater said after the win, breaking into tears.

He added of Fensom's injury: "From what I've hear he's got a broken leg". Addo-Carr bagged his double in the 73rd minute after some lovely lead-up work from Cronk and Slater before a attractive long-cut-out from Tohu Harris to seal the dominant 34-6 result.
