Tremor detected in North Korea may be another test - China

24 September 2017, 12:45 | Cassandra Thompson

"I will surely and definitely tame the mentally deranged USA dotard with fire".

Russian President Vladimir Putin, left, and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stand while waiting for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan prior to their talks at the G-20 summit in Hamburg, northern Germany, Saturday, July 8, 2017.

"It would also send a disturbing signal to the USA and the worldwide community that North Korea had now "arrived" as a full-fledged nuclear weapon state".

Seoul's Unification Ministry said Friday neither of the two men who ruled North Korea before Kim Jong Un - his father, Kim Jong Il, and his grandfather and national founder Kim Il Sung - issued any similar statement.

Terming North Korea's latest violation of the relevant UN Security Council resolutions as a source of deep regret, the spokeswoman said, "We are convinced that now it is more important than ever before for all parties involved to stop escalating tensions that are accompanying every new round of reactions and counter reactions".

Another official at the the Korea Meteorological Administration's command center said it is believed to have been a natural quake.

Returning insult with insult, Kim said the president was "unfit to hold the prerogative of supreme command of a country". Experts say it could have been a geological response to the test.

At this stage, Kim would not likely be satisfied with anything short of a grand bargain in which Washington and the worldwide community recognise North Korea and offer economic aid in exchange for a freeze on its weapons and missile programmes.

Donald Trump has added economic action to his fiery military threats against North Korea and renewed his rhetorical offensive against Kim Jong Un, calling the reclusive leader "obviously a madman".

It has pushed a tit-for-tat proposal in which North Korea suspends its arms programmes in return for a halt to U.S. military drills in the region, which has been ignored. However, the underlying message it appears to be giving is one of disbelief that a USA president is not backing down and is making such a forceful threat.

Alaves midfielder Mubarak Wakaso hopes Real Madrid clash will change their fortunes
However, Alaves got the equalizer and their first goal of the season in the 40th minute through their captain Manu Garcia . Alaves , meanwhile, are next in La Liga action away to Levante next weekend.

"I will make the man holding the prerogative of the supreme command in the US pay dearly for his speech calling for totally destroying [North Korea]", he said.

North Korea has launched dozens of missiles under Kim's leadership as it accelerates a weapons program aimed at developing the ability to target the United States with intercontinental ballistic nuclear missiles.

"Global terrorism - and the extreme Islamist ideologies driving it - must be confronted and defeated", Ms Bishop also said.

The threats by Pyongyang came after Trump threatened to "totally destroy" North Korea in a speech to the UN General Assembly on Tuesday.

But the official said there were questions about Pyongyang's technical capabilities and Washington does not give "too much credence" to Pyongyang taking such action.

There was no immediate reaction from China's Foreign Ministry, but the news was widely reported by Chinese state media outlets and on social media. And, as Trump's current hostility to the Iran nuclear deal vividly illustrates, there are no guarantees that disarmament would preclude further demands from the USA and its perfidious allies.

However, the rhetoric was starting to rattle some in other countries.

The 2018 Games are to be staged in Pyeongchang, just 80 km (50 miles) from the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea, the world's most heavily armed border.

And it's possible that North Korea is able to undermine them.
