Uber under FBI investigation for spying on competitor Lyft

Why Uber's Market Share Has Tanked

The FBI Is Investigating Uber's 'Hell' Program For Tracking Lyft

Uber is also facing investigations into its use of another software program created to evade federal regulators and whether the company engaged in bribery in foreign countries. Now, it looks like Uber is involved in yet another federal investigation. The authorities are reported looking into whether the ride-hailing company illegally used software to stalk its rival Lyft. Apart from driver locations and routes, the app was able to gather data on Lyft's ride prices, insiders said.

The FBI investigators will weigh whether the actions constitute unauthorized access. Uber previously confirmed the existence of the software but claimed it used it for other purposes, adding that the project has been discontinued since previous year.

The Justice Department is investigating Uber's use of a software tool dubbed "Greyball" that, according to The New York Times, was meant to help drivers evade transportation regulators. The software's existence was first reported in February, and now the FBI is investigating its use, reports The Wall Street Journal. The Department of Justice is reportedly investigating whether some Uber managers broke foreign bribery laws.

Heat from the Federal Bureau of Investigation added to the mountain of other problems that have Uber in hot water.

Other issues that the new CEO would face include accusations of sexism and bullying corporate culture. It agreed to 20 years of external audits, which were triggered by a probe about another piece of software called God view.

Uber's new CEO Dara Khosrowshahi inherited an Uber that's riddled with problems that need fixing, and a lot of them have complex legal aspects.

Henry said the TCN division would talk to the ride-hailing companies about how to handle drivers who were initially rejected but would have another chance under the new regulations. He hopes to resolve all troubles that the firm is facing so it'll be ready for a public offering in 2019.
