It was an awesome view here in my hometown of Rotterdam, New York.

"Viewing 'The Great American Eclipse" this week was a historical moment shared by so many Americans across the country.

Even without glasses, the effects of the eclipse were certainly felt near the path of totality. Here in Keene, New York, the moon obscured 65 percent of the sun.

A college professor in northeast in is collecting solar eclipse glasses in preparation for the total solar eclipse in 2024.

And it didn't stop there.

As you probably already know, Earth experienced a total solar eclipse on August 21st. However, as with most photographers the day of changed my mind and of course I wanted to try and capture the eclipse, or at least the essence of the eclipse as it was happening. What about central Virginians and our chance to see a total solar eclipse? The event lived up to its billing.

Wanda Spruill of Leicester recalled watching the 1979 eclipse through a pinhole projector.
