Aston Martin CEO: We'll Hybrid Everything By The Mid-2020s

Aston Martin cars to be 100% hybrid by mid 2020s

The first fully electric auto that Aston Martin is scheduled to introduce will be the RapidE sedan, followed shortly thereafter by the DBX crossover. But that will only be built in small numbers. According to the FT, the Aston announcement isn't quite the same as this - hybrid powertrains will be optional on every model but non-hybrid cars will continue on sale. Palmer revealed that roughly one quarter of Aston Martin's lineup will have a battery option by the end of the 2020s.

Luxury vehicle manufacturer Aston Martin Holdings has reported sharply improved first-half and second quarter financial results amid rising global demand for its luxury handcrafted sports cars. But there will be more mainstream (if such a word can apply) hybrid and battery EV Aston Martins coming, too. The Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar, expected to go into production next year, will also be a hybrid, pairing a naturally-aspirated V12 engine with a hybrid system developed by electric supercar maker Rimac. Like Volvo, some of these will just be 48V mild hybrids.

Due to toughening emission standards and potential bans on cars powered exclusively by internal combustion engines, even low-volume exotic marques like Aston Martin are turning to electrification.

Gorka's hardline views on immigration and terrorism were a source of discord inside the Trump administration and beyond. Bannon, Trump's former senior counselor, left the White House a week ago and rejoined Breitbart .

"You need to keep core technology inside the company", said Dr. Palmer.

2017 is turning out to be a good year for the people who build James Bond's company vehicle. Due out next year, the Valkyrie will be the company's first hybrid. Now also appears to be a good time to be a British vehicle maker looking to expand an EV lineup; the United Kingdom government has been helping several firms with grants to encourage low-carbon technologies.
