Australian Teenager Left Bloodied After Encounter With Strange Sea Critters

Melbourne teen has legs eaten by mystery sea creatures because Australia is a terrifying nightmare

Teen Emerges From Beach With Bloodied Legs After A Quick Dip

Melbourne teenager, Sam Kanizay, went for a half-hour-long dip at Dendy Street Beach in Brighton on Sunday and came out with his legs and feet covered in blood. After being submerged in the water for about 30 minutes, the Australian teen's legs went numb.

When the bleeding wouldn't stop, his father Jarrod took him to the hospital.

A leading theory is that the teenager became a meal for scavenging sea lice.

Even after her legs under the shower, the blood has not stopped flowing and her family then thought that it was an attack of sea lice.

"It sort of looked like hundreds of little pin holes, or pin-type bites, distributed all over my ankle and the top of my foot", he told 3AW on Monday.

Yet, when Sam Kanizay, 16, made a decision to paddle in the sea near his home in Melbourne his legs became covered in blood and both he - and hospital staff - struggled to stem the bleeding.

"They are not there to eat us, but sometimes they might take a little bit, like mosquitoes and leeches and other things out there in the environment", he said.

Alistair Poore, an expert on marine invertebrates from the University of New South Wales, agreed with the sea lice assessment levied by Keough.

Sam Kanizay's legs came out of the water looking like this.

Donald Trump Approval Rating: President's Support at Lowest Level Ever
The poll follows President Trump's announced ban on transgender individuals serving in the military. Senate that rejected the health care repeal bill came between midnight and dawn last Friday.

"There was a massive pool of blood on the floor [at the hospital]".

"They're there all the time; you could put a piece of meat in the water, anywhere in the bay, and you could find them", Dr Walker-Smith said.

"I didn't really know what to think of it, it was a bit of a shock".

Sam's father went to the same beach next day with a net to hunt for the cause of his son's bloodshed.

The night after Sam's attack, Mr Kanizay went back to the beach with a pool net full of meat and captured the creatures he said were responsible.

The reason behind Sam's bleeding legs was unknown; the hospital staff couldn't explain it. When they bite humans, they usually leave little red dots that can look like a rash.

He found masses of the microscopic features were feasting on the meat, just as they had his son's legs.

"No one knows what the creatures are". He said, 'Dad, you better come down outside.' I said, 'Why?' He said, 'Just come down!'

Despite the young boy's injury, Dr. Walker-Smith said that his case is unusual, possibly because he was standing still in the water instead of swimming, allowing the small animals to feed freely.
