Fantasy Golf Breaking News
Golden State Warriors guard Curry shot a 4-over-par 74 in the first round of the Ellie Mae Classic at TPC San Francisco Bay at Stonebrae, a Web.com Tour event. Fellow American Brandon Harkins is two shots back after rounds of 64 and 65.
"If you told me I was going to shoot 74 going into the first round I'd take that all day, every day".
That's high praise, indeed, coming from guys who know what the pressure of golf's biggest stages can do to a player.
"It was an unbelievable experience, and to shoot two 74s, I'll take that", said Curry, who will nearly assuredly miss the cut at the event held in Hayward, Calif. Waiting at the tee box on their final hole, he took a basketball belonging to Erik Oswald, a 14-year-old from Southern California, gave it to Curry to autograph and then returned it to the giddy teenager, who had followed Curry all day.
Texas woman's body found in sand in Ocean City Ocean City Beach Patrol first lieutenant Skip Lee told CBS Baltimore that signs on the beach warn not to dig deep holes. O'Connor was 30 years old from Texas and had been vacationing with her parents when they became separated.
"It could have been all those 80, 90 talks I heard going into the tournament. This is two days of golf I'll remember for a long time".
His 148 total, on a par-70 setup, was better than four other players, plus three more who withdrew, in a field that included seven players who have won on the one-rung-above PGA Tour. He did finish ahead of four players, including five-time Web.com Tour victor Matthew Goggin, and Colt McNealy, incoming Stanford freshman and younger brother of the No. 2-ranked amateur in the world, Maverick McNealy.
"Clearly, he is [a good golfer]", Zach Johnson said. Someone said they shoot pretty low there often, but it doesn't matter. First round as an amateur in a professional tournament? "First opportunity to play with these guys, first tee shot was insane, first par I made trying to settle in and then obviously the first birdie was a really cool moment". While Curry is not fooling anyone into thinking he can win this week, he is now sitting above eight golfers on the live leaderboard and is generating huge viewing interest in this event.
