Customers react to bridal store's sudden closure

Alfredo Angelo Bridal stores closing nationwide; including Oklahoma locations

The Wall Street Journal reports that bridal retailer Alfred Angelo is planning to file for bankruptcy, and is closing all their stores.

Women who said yes to the dress are finding themselves in dress limbo amid rumors that the popular dressmaker Alfred Angelo has closed some of its US stores. "They said if we don't get here by tonight, we may not get our dresses at all".

Alfred Angelo representatives were not reachable for comment at either company headquarters or its customer-service line. We have never received them.

All the employees had left the store and only a sign was left on the door.

Channel 9's Julie Salomone spoke to many brides who stopped by the store looking for answers. "They're not answering the phones". I'm not answering the phone.

With the doors about to be locking for good, Filintarakis needed to get here fast.

Brides 10/11 talked to drove from more than an hour away to try and pick up their wedding and bridesmaid dresses before the store closed. "But no, I called and they said they were closing".

"We were advised to box the dresses". One has a dress and the others don't.

WOWT 6 News spoke with a bride who said police officers told her and other customers to leave the Lincoln store.

In Dewitt, staff told New York Upstate that the shop would close permanently, but they were not told why.

"I found the dress in my size that I ordered", she said.

"It's not gonna make or break it because at the end of the day if I'm married to the love of my life then everything went according to plan".

"It's a awful experience, " said Samantha Capozzola of Syracuse, who was at the store with her fiance, Chris LaCroix. She said, "Keep your chin up".

Competitor David's Bridal said it would offer 30 percent discounts to brides and 20 percent discounts to bridesmaids left without dresses.

She's also thinking of the employees who may be out of a job.

Brides across the country are anxious about their big day after being told that one of the world's largest wedding dress retailers has filed for bankruptcy.

'Together with all of you, the United Kingdom division was a vibrant and successful business, really going from strength to strength so the news from the USA head office has inevitably hit us all hard and for that I am truly very sorry.
