Sky Fiddles With Channels To Create More Sports Output For Now Customers
11 July 2017, 12:53 | Ruben Fields
10 new Sky Sports channels announced, will also be part of Now TV passes
Managing Director of Sky Sports, Barney Francis said: "We're dedicating channels to some of our biggest sports, launching a new way to watch the best live action and offering even better digital products too". For existing subscribers, the new package will update automatically and the new channels will replace the ones already listed on EPGs across the UK.
Sources indicate that Sky's Now TV internet service broke the company's monthly sports subscription model by offering sports channels on a pay-as-you-go basis for the first time. There's also Sky Sports Premier League, which is for the slightly better round kicking players.
So far that looks to be the full extent of the Sky Sports offering on BT TV, meaning fans won't be able to subscribe to Sky's new dedicated golf and cricket channels.
Sky Sports 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 will be scrapped in favour of themed channels.
There will be 10 newly branded in channels in total, up from the current seven.
One channel is available for £18, two for £22 and three for £26. Two other channels - Sky Sports Arena and Sky Sports Action - will cover sports such as boxing, rugby union and rugby league, NFL and tennis, while Sky Sports Main Event will be used to showcase major sporting events.
The best global rugby union, rugby league, boxing, darts, NFL, tennis and more will feature on the new Sky Sports Action and Arena channels, while our Main Event channel dedicated to the biggest live events - exclusively available to customers with the full range of Sky Sports channels - means you won't miss the big moments, whatever the sport.
