Police prepare Bronx church for slain cop's funeral

New York City Police Officer Miosotis Familia was shot in the head last week through the window of police vehicle that was parked in Brooklyn.

Crews from the NYPD's buildings-maintenance division spent Sunday freshening up the exterior of the The World Changers Church on Grand Concourse, where Familia will be waked.

The 48-year-old was shot while sitting in the front passenger seat of a police RV stationed in the area as a result of a triple shooting in the area in March.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10 the same church.

Responding officers shot and killed the suspect, identified as 34-year-old parolee Alexander Bonds after he pulled a revolver on them during a chase, according to police.
