Canada defeats France in quarter-finals at men's under-19 hoops World Cup

Team USA came up short of its goal of a gold medal at the FIBA U19 World Cup in Egypt, settling for bronze after being upset by Canada in the semifinal on Saturday.

U.S. was upset by Canada 99-87 despite Wiley's 13 points and game-high 17 rebounds in the FIBA U19 World Cup semifinals on Saturday.

Kigab, a 6-7 small forward, had 14 points, six rebounds and four assists for Canada. He also had 10 points and seven rebounds in a win over 78-73 victory over Canada in the preliminary rounds.

Outscoring the U.S. 6-2 over the third quarter's first 1 minute and 34 seconds, Germany pulled ahead 37-35, marking the first time in the USA's five games that it found itself trailing in the second half. Besides Canada, The USA and Spain have three common opponents as the USA defeated Iran 108-48 and Italy 98-65 in group play and beat Mali 117-69 in the round of 16.

After winning its first five games by an average of 28.8 points, the USA team fell 99-87 to the Canadians. The Germans, who outscored the Americans 11-5 at the end of the first half, opened the third quarter on a 6-2 spurt to take a 37-35 lead. We just don't. What I'm seeing right now is us pressuring them, and at some point, they will back off.
