Samsung's Bixby-powered smart speaker to be a reality?
05 July 2017, 12:35 | Denise Dawson
This would explain the reason behind launching the Bixby Voice beta program, but the service still needs to be developed so it can actually begin competing with Google's Assistant, Apple's Siri, and Amazon's Alexa. The Bixby assistant now can support only Galaxy 8 users in Korea and is yet to enhance the "English voice support".
It will be interesting to see what Samsung's new Bixby powered smart speaker is like as soon as we get some more details about the device, we will let you guys know. It means that the company shall be taking enough time before coming up with the Bixby speaker. The speaker, now codenamed Vega, is still in the early stages of its development, so there isn't any information on its specs, any features it will have, or even a provisional release date.
First we had Amazon Echo, then Google Home, then Apple HomePod. Microsoft made a deal with Harman International to develop the voice-controlled technology for the Redmond software company's forthcoming smart speaker. The firm originally said the English-language Bixby would be complete - with full voice support - by the Spring, but one source stated that it's unlikely to be ready until the end of July.
Samsung has already been three months behind the Bixby English language release and considering that Home speakers are predominantly used in the English-speaking countries, Samsung will want to try and clear those discrepancies. Before it began work on Vega, it had previously planned to launch another speaker - codenamed "Hive" - at Mobile World Congress 2015. Share your views in the comments section below.
