Djokovic is bidding for a fourth Wimbledon title next week
Novak Djokovic travelled to Eastbourne to try and rediscover his form ahead of Wimbledon and by reaching the men's final at the Aegon International, he seems to have turned that corner, regaining some of that lost confidence.
Djokovic has glided through all of his matches this week as he attained straight sets wins over Vasek Pospisil, Donald Young and Daniil Medvedev.
His philosophical ponderings have become more familiar than the grit and intensity that saw him win six of the eight major titles available over a two-year period beginning at 2014 Wimbledon.
"Most of all, I felt very welcomed here by the people", said the 30-year-old. I think my service is definitely my biggest weapon and if it's working it causes the other player a lot of problems'.
The three time Wimbledon champion will face Slovakia's Martin Klizan in the first round at SW19 next week.
Pliskova earned her ninth career title by breaking Wozniacki once in each set.
Australian Bernard Tomic surprised sixth seed Mischa Zverev 6-3, 6-2 as Richard Gasquet, seeded seventh, beat Kevin Anderson 6-4, 6-4.
The former world number one is rebuilding for Wimbledon after a poor past year by his world-class standards and is pointing toward the grass-court major as an immediate goal.
Meanwhile, twelve months after shutting down his season in the wake of a devastating semi-final defeat, Swiss maestro Roger Federer will once again go into the Wimbledon 2017 as favourites.
I'm really glad that I'll be able to fight for the trophy. I was also in final.
"I enjoyed it, especially in the second set", he said. At a set down and 3-3 in the second she forced seven dueces in an attempt to break the Czech's serve. Either way, however, both players have performed well this week.
