Police arrested Ricky Dubose and Donnie Russell Rowe
Authorities say two escaped inmates from Georgia have been captured after a foot chase in Rutherford County Thursday evening. They made their way to another home, but police say this time the homeowner held them at gunpoint with help from a neighbor after they tried to steal the homeowner's auto.
Luckily, the homeowner was armed, and after calling the police and his neighbors, they were able to keep the murderers at gunpoint until police arrived and arrested them.
Law enforcement from the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, FBI and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation had been tracking them since, and authorities had been offering a $130,00 reward for their capture.
The man who held the suspects at bay at gunpoint is set to speak at 5 p.m.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that the two correctional officers were shot Tuesday morning. In a statement released by the Georgia Department of Corrections, they said, "Both officers were known for their unwavering commitment to their job and their love of family".
Authorities described the pair as "dangerous beyond description", lauding investigators and the homeowner to held them until arrest.
The pursuit went along State Highway 231-South, then eastbound onto I-24 at the South Church Street ramp.
On Thursday, officials said the two men were in custody following a auto chase in rush hour traffic through Rutherford County, Tennessee.
"I realized I had two ex-cons wanted for murder who had just shot at law enforcement who had nothing to lose and for some reason they surrendered and laid down on the concrete in my driveway", Patrick Hale said.
Republican baseball practice gunman 'had list of names' The FBI's Washington field office, which is handling the investigation, provided no comment, citing the ongoing investigation. A USA official told CBS News that James Hodgkinson , the Alexandria shooter, had a list of names including GOP Reps.
The pair then traveled in a stolen vehicle to Tennessee and tried to to steal another vehicle.
After three hours - leaving the couple bound - Dubose and Rowe took off again with the couple's cell phone and Jeep.
Rowe and Dubose made their first appearance while in Rutherford County custody today, waiving their extradition to Georgia.
Two inmates who escaped from a Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) prisoner transport earlier this week were captured tonight in Tennessee following a high speed vehicle chase.
After their escape on Tuesday, in Putnam County, Georgia, Sheriff Howard Sills said that #The Public was in grave danger and the whereabouts of the inmates were unknown.
After they left the home in the couple's auto, the homeowners were eventually able to free themselves and call police.
The fugitives during an escape from a prison bus in Georgia, authorities said.
They somehow managed to get around the metal door that was supposed to protect the officers in the front of the bus, wrest away two 9 mm Glocks and repeatedly shoot correctional officers Sgt. Christopher Monica, 42, and Sgt. Curtis Billue, 58. The pain endured by the families and loved ones of Sergeant Christopher Monica and Sergeant Curtis Billue endures, however. The fugitives ditched the Honda Civic and their prison uniforms, ransacked a home and then stole a Ford pickup truck in Madison, Georgia. According to the order from the governor's office, Sgt. Billue served with the Georgia Department of Corrections for 10 years. Rowe was serving life without parole and Dubose was serving a 20-year sentence.
Dubose had been serving time after being convicted of financial identity fraud, credit card fraud, burglary by forced entry, theft by taking and entering a vehicle, aggravated assault, and armed robbery.
