Katy went on to say that she respects her "old self" and doesn't hate the old "Katy Perry", but rather her new progression is the necessary step in her character development and her career.

Singer Katy Perry, who just released her electronica-inflected album Witness, has become the first Twitter user to reach 100 million followers.

According to CNBC, as many as 48 million Twitter accounts could be fake. She was touring Germany at the time when she tweeted "Just got into Berlin... feeling better thank you, have my vicks inhaler by my side... and P.S".

Twitter announced the news with a clever tweet referencing the title of Perry's latest album.

Over the years, Perry has amassed an impressive number of awards, including five American Music Awards, five Billboard Music Awards, five MTV Video Music Awards, and 14 People's Choice Awards, among many others.

Twitter now has 319 million monthly active users.

Katy Perry's former arch rival Taylor Swift is not too far behind with an impressive 85 million followers.

Katy explained that she doesn't think the trophies accurately represent audiences, adding, "They're constructs". "I feel ashamed that I would have those thoughts, I feel that low and that depressed", she said in the live-streamed therapy session.
