Twitter has taken onboard user comments and feedback in a bid to refresh its interface with aesthetic and ergonomic changes to help make the social network easier to use. Among the changes are a new side navigation menu, a new typeface and more relatable icons.
With your Profile now available from the sidebar, that leaves only four main navigation tabs: Home, Search, Notifications, and Messages. Other changes include a new high contrast mode for accessibility and a new fullscreen media viewer, where the background color is automatically chosen based on the dominant color in the photo.
Some of the changes that Twitter is introducing also appear to be the company's way of making its app more easily usable for newcomers. Twitter acknowledged many new users misinterpreted the arrow symbol's action as delete or return to the previous page.
First, Like and Retweet counts update dynamically, so you can see instantly the engagement generated by a tweet.
The company said the new user interface will roll out on twitter.com, Twitter for iOS, Twitter for Android, TweetDeck and Twitter Lite in the coming days and weeks. If you would like to check out the new and improved Twitter iOS app, you can get it right now in the Apple App Store completely free.
