Premier League 2017-18 fixtures: Chelsea host Burnley on opening day

Newly-promoted Newcastle United and Brighton and Hove Albion begin their respective campaigns with tough home tests against Spurs and Manchester City respectively.

The Premier League, the world's most lucrative league, kicks off on August 12 with champions Chelsea hosting Burnley.

The fixture list has been released and by looking at leading bookmakers' odds for final positions, we can see where each team's supposed tricky run of games come in the season. Defending champions Chelsea will open up the season at home to Burnley before going visiting Wembley Stadium the following week as Tottenham's first opponents at its temporary home. With the exception of Southampton, who finished eighth previous year, the champions' other opponents are either newly-promoted or sides that finished in the bottom half of the table last season.

Manchester United meet West Ham United at Old Trafford on opening weekend and then face Swansea City, Leicester, Stoke, Everton and Southampton.

The return fixture at the Emirates promises to be one of the standout games of the Christmas period.

In the first seven games, the Sky Blues will face Everton (home), Liverpool (home) and reigning champions Chelsea (away), teams that were part of last season's Top7 and will certainly be making a push for Europe and/or the title.

Steve Kerr, Tyronn Lue Both Were Confused By Draymond Green's Technical Foul
The All-Star forward said after the game that he knew the first technical was not his. "They messed that one up bad", Green said. Instead, the only history that can be made from this point on is by Cleveland , and only if the Cavs win the next three games.

The 2017/18 campaign finishes a week earlier than this year because of the World Cup in Russian Federation - with clubs again facing four games in 10 days between December 23 and January 1. As for Man Utd, we face them at home on December 2nd, and go to Old Trafford on April 28th.

The last time Spurs visited the national stadium was in the FA Cup semi-final, a game they lost 4-2 to this season's first visitors - Chelsea.

Huddersfield boss David Wagner will have a first competitive reunion with mentor Juergen Klopp at Anfield on October 28.

Spurs are due to play Burnley at Wembley on August 26 but the fixture will be rescheduled because it is on the same day as the Rugby League Challenge Cup Final.

As for derbies, Arsenal have home advantage in the first north London showdown on November 18, with the return taking place at Wembley on February 10. For instance, a home fixture in their first group game would significantly cut travel for the Gunners, allowing them plenty of time to prepare for the short journey across London to face Antonio Conte's side at Stamford Bridge.
