Trump may ‘terminate’ Russia probe’s Mueller says president’s pal
Trump has made no decision to act against Mueller and insists that he knows the risks of doing so but people close to the president say Trump is so volatile they can not be sure that he will not change his mind if he finds out anything to lead him to believe the investigation has been compromised, The New York Timessaid.
White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Tuesday that the president "has no intention" to dismiss Mueller. "I think the way the investigation is shaping up, he's out to get the president".
House Russia probe leader Michael Conaway, a Texas Republican, and Rep. Adam Schiff, the investigation's top Democrat, were set to meet with former Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson - just a few days after Senate investigators interviewed him. Trump hasn't commented on the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director. And leading Republican legislators on Tuesday waved off the idea of firing Mueller, with House Speaker Paul Ryan saying that his advice was to "let Robert Mueller do his job" and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell voicing confidence in the special counsel.
Now we know why Trump wanted to fire the special counsel.
Trump advisors and conservative pundits including Newt Gingrich and Ann Coulter have called for Mueller's removal. Donald Trump believes that he can make the investigation go away if he fires Mueller. In general, it is impermissible to ask prospective government hires about their political leanings, including whether they've made donations.
The revelation came after Ruddy was at the White House on Monday for a meeting with Chief Strategist Steve Bannon.
Sessions' clash with the Democratic senators was the latest chapter in a saga that has dogged Trump in his first five months as president and distracted from his domestic policy agenda including major healthcare and tax cut initiatives.
The source of the media's furious reporting, Chris Ruddy actually sat down with White House Correspondent Kristen Welker for NBC Nightly News.

Some have compared Trump's firing of then-FBI Director James Comey in May to the storied "Saturday Night massacre" that occurred during Richard Nixon's presidency.
On Tuesday morning, Trump supporter Ari Fleischer, who served as President George W. Bush's spokesman, again highlighted the issue of Mueller's probe being handled by attorneys who have donated mostly to Democrats, a message that Donald Trump Jr. quickly retweeted to his 1.7 million followers.
Unlike the President's successful TV program, where ratings seemed to rise each time he fired someone, his already lackluster poll numbers might plummet if he terminates Mueller before the special counsel has completed his investigation.
"Time to rethink", he tweeted Monday, citing Mueller's hiring decisions and Comey's admission that he'd instructed a friend to share with reporters notes he'd taken of his private conversations with Trump in order to force the appointment of a special counsel.
Last month's appointment of Robert S. Mueller III as a special counsel to investigate possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation enraged PresidentTrump. "Is the President now considering firing special prosecutor Robert Mueller who is now overseeing the Russian Federation investigation", speculated ABC Anchor David Muir during World News Tonight.
Mueller was interviewed by the Justice Department and by the president for the director's position, according to a senior White House official. Still, Gingrich said any special counsel with an agenda can "all of the sudden find something procedural and technical to latch onto". Sessions recused himself from Trump campaign-related investigations in February.
Gingrich and Ruddy said it would be a "mistake" for Trump to remove Mueller, and both said they see the probe as unnecessary. "I think it's a threat to the Trump presidency".
