The Drivers Who Won the Indy 500 on their First Attempt

"For me, the bad luck has always been in Toronto and the good luck is always in the Indy GP".

Penske's cars have won all five poles this season, with Power and Castroneves alternating their qualifying victories.

"You look at the race and you see that there was potential when you see Ryan Hunter-Reay finish third".

Will Power swept to pole position for Saturday's INDYCAR Grand Prix with a new track record on Indianapolis Motor Speedway's grand prix layout, heading up a 1-2-3 lock-out for Penske.

Will Power used the backdrop of iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway to move past a pair of Team Penske greats in the Indy auto record book.

"I thought it was pretty good", said Montoya, a two-time Indy 500 champion who is running a limited schedule for team-owner Roger Penske in 2017.

The Toowoomba-born Power, who won the 2014 IndyCar series title, was virtually untouchable all weekend.

He seemed destined to win at Alabama until a flat tyre forced him to pit and dropped him to 14th.

The following week, at Phoenix, Power also was in contention for the lead - until a caution flag came out while he was already on pit lane.

Four-time series champion Scott Dixon qualified fourth in the No. 9 NTT Data Honda.

Will Power was fastest on the Indy infield on Friday. He paced first and second practice, qualifying where he took his 47th career pole position, and this morning warmup, before leading 61 of 85 laps.

McDonnell: Labour Will "Come Out Fighting" From Historic Council Election Loss
It was a bad day for the Labour party in Ashfield as just one councillor was elected to Nottinghamshire County Council . At Conservatives taking 50% of UKIP's votes, Labour would be set to lose around 36 seats due to this effect alone.

Will Power broke his track record with a lap of 1 minute, 7.7044-seconds at 129.687 miles per hour during the Firestone Fast Six, the last of three knockout qualifying rounds to determine the Verizon P1 Award victor.

Helio Castroneves was eighth at 1:10.6351, a day after finishing second, which is where he'll start Saturday. "It's such a long race and it's one of the few ones we don't really necessarily go into with a set strategy, we just kind of play it by ear", he said Saturday.

After also enduring a tough start to the season, Graham Rahal took advantage of a fast vehicle while running on the "black" hard-compound primary Firestone tires to finish sixth, his best result of 2017.

Power's teammates had the same problem. Simon Pagenaud knocked Castroneves to fifth on Lap 81.

It was the second straight race that Roger Penske's drivers led every lap of the race, and it went nearly perfectly according to script.

Pagenaud, the defending series champ, started seventh and wound up fourth.

Penskes drivers again dominated qualifying, taking four of the top five spots.

James Hinchcliffe gained some new fans from his offseason appearance on "Dancing With The Stars" but would prefer to complete his comeback from a life-threatening injury two years ago with a win at the Brickyard.

In 2015, he started the Grand Prix 17th and worked his way up to second.

Dixon finished as a runner-up for the 35th time, which is No. 4 on IndyCar's all-time list. It's been a frustrating start to the year, but we kept our heads down and today we came home with a solid result.
