Sean Spicer stood back in the shadows after Comey's firing

Wallace said he was particularly struck by one exchange during Friday's White House press briefing between White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer and Reuters reporter Jeff Mason.

White House deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders will hold a press briefing Wednesday afternoon, less than 24 hours after President Donald Trump announced the firing of FBI Director James Comey.

Today, during a press briefing, Sanders added more fuel to the fire by saying that she had "personally" spoken to "countless" Federal Bureau of Investigation employees who applauded President Donald Trump's decision to let Comey go. Trump abruptly fired Comey, allowing Trump surrogates and even his vice president to put forth an explanation that Trump himself discarded on NBC Nightly News two days later. Incredulous, Spicer takes his podium to New York City, eventually finding his boss at a New Jersey golf course.

Sanders said Thursday that Trump would "love nothing more for this investigation to continue to its completion".

One law enforcement source said Comey's actions were sometimes the subject of debate among agents, but most respected him as a leader and believed that "his decisions were made with good intentions".

It's Honda's problem, not mine, says Alonso
After sitting out the rest of Practice One and escaping to the tennis court, Alonso was then slowest of all in Practice Two. But Mercedes F1 boss Toto Wolff said: "We are not doing anything for Honda, that is the current status quo".

"We don't have press conferences", Trump said. During an interview with Fox News' Jeanine Pirro Trump refused to say yes or no when he was asked point blank whether Spicer will continue in his post. "The chance of "countless" agents calling the White House to complain about their director - and being routed to the deputy White House press secretary - is precisely 0 percent".

Has President Trump secretly taped conversations in the White House?

If Spicer is booted, it will be the Trump Administration's most significant firing since Michael Flynn.

"Any investigation that was taking place Monday was taking place today", Sanders said, suggesting that was an indication that Comey's firing would not impact the ongoing probe. But the White House's email system was running slowly.

"If she could ask for anything for her birthday, she would probably ask you guys to be nice to her mommy", she said with a smile. But she, nor anyone else in the White House, has provided any evidence that shows the White House sought and received reliable data about the Bureau before President Donald Trump chose to fire him.
